Amelia McGuiness Australian Snowsports Development Foundation
The Amelia McGuiness Australian Snowsports Development Foundation (AMASDF) was established in memory of Amelia, an advanced and much-loved skier from Barker College, after she passed away in a tragic ski accident in 2009. Despite the enormous pain of their personal loss, her parents Cath and Sam McGuiness, developed the foundation so her legacy could live on.
Each year the foundation awards Scholarships out of its fundraising events. The AMASDF is recognised and commended throughout the Snowsports community for its contribution and support of up-and-coming athletes. Since 2011, the foundation has awarded $237,360 in Snowsports Scholarships. This has been achieved through the ongoing support of schools, the resorts, families, individuals and the business community.
Funds have been distributed to both a very significant and impressive list of young “rising stars” in Snowsports looking to live and experience their own personal athlete goals (including competing in the Winter Olympics), in addition to up-and-coming Time-Trial participants who seek development support through a scholarship application process.
Applications typically open in early May, and close in late June.
FOUNDATION MERCHANDISE
All items purchased in the AMSADF Range directly support the Foundation's fund raising efforts to support Snowsports Rising Stars.
