Interschools Volunteer Course Officials

 

On a typical Interschools event day, at least 50 course officials are required to keep the events safe and fair for participants.

Interschools relies heavily on volunteer course officials to keep events safe and fair. Each participating school must provide volunteers, who typically serve as start marshals, finish assistants, or gate judges. Officials receive a briefing and complimentary lift pass (if they do not already have a season pass).

 

Key Requirements for Volunteers
  • Snow ID: All volunteers must register or renew their Snow ID before the event.
  • Time Commitment: Volunteers are assigned to a course where they wil need to be there from the course inspection time to the finish of all competitors second run. 
  • Waivers: All officials must complete an online event waiver prior to participating at the resort.

 

Available Roles
  • Gate Judges: Observe participantss paths through the course to record disqualifications
  • Start Marshals: Organise competitors into bib number order and prepare them for their runs.
  • Finish Assistants: Assist with competitor flow, ensuring a safe and prompt exit from the finish area.

 

Preparation and Training
While not strictly mandatory, Interschools strongly recommends that volunteers complete the online Officials Training Course to gain confidence for event day.
