VICTORIAN INTERSCHOOLS MULTICLASS EVENT
The VISC is proud to announce that the 2026 Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships will again include the Victorian Interschools Multiclass Championship Event, to be held on Wednesday 19th August. This Giant Slalom (GS) race, which is organised by the Multiclass Sports Association, in conjunction with VISC, Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA) and Special Olympics Australia; provides young people, with a physical or intellectual impairment, with the opportunity to compete at Victorian Interschools in their own event.
In the days prior to the race (Monday 17th & Tuesday 18th August), participants will also have an opportunity to participate in a 2-day Mt Buller Ski School instructed clinic, along with support provided by DWA guides. Please click here for more information and to register for the 2026 Victorian Interschools 2-day instructed Multiclass Development Clinic.
For the Multiclass Championship Race, race divisions replicate existing mainstream events with both individual and team races across all divisions. Over 20 students are expected to participate this year, and the Event will also include a number of invitational athletes from the Special Olympics pathway.
The key objectives of the event are to:
- Offer a Multiclass Snowsports event for all Primary and Secondary aged students with an intellectual or physical impairment and Special Olympic athletes, through inclusion as part of the mainstream Interschools event.
- Develop a greater sense of opportunity and inclusion for all within the Alpine community through a common love of skiing / boarding and foster understanding, achieve respect and receive recognition from their peers and the wider community.
