ABOUT

Throughout 2023, we have examined ways to develop a sustainable and standards-based approach to the Moguls Events. It is our intention to trial a new approach at Regional (only) Mogul Events in 2024, with a commitment to evaluate this new direction at the end of season 2024, in collaboration with our school coordinators.

Our central objective is to focus on the delivery of a quality and sustainable State and National Mogul event experience, with the Regional Mogul events to focus on identifying those individual competitors with the appropriate skill-set necessary to progress to the State level Mogul events.

Further information about this new approach was provided to our community late last year.

The 2024 Rules of Competition will be updated and available in May.

WHO CAN COMPETE

  • The Moguls Quailfer is for competitors who have not automatically invited through the 2024 State Championships in August. Automatically invited competitors will be considered as meeting the minimum competition standard, and as such they are not required, nor permitted to compete at the 2024 NTH Regional Mogul Qualifier Events. You can view the invites information below in the 'Moguls State Invite' section.

STRUCTURE

  • Participants will receive training runs of the course as well as two scored runs, as per all usual Interschools Moguls events.
  • No medals will be awarded.
  • Scores will be posted on the Interschools website after the event.
  • There will be no team results.

ENTRY COST

Entry cost for the Moguls Qualifier event is $40 per person. Please note this is a reduce cost from the other event entries.

ENTRY PROCESS

Entries must be submitted through the Interschools Online Entry System from May 13. School Coordinators must enter moguls qualifier participants into their regional event starting with 'Moguls Qualifier 2024' (see below).

QUALIFICATION TO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

For 2024 NTH Mogul Qualifier Event series mogul competitors, participants who place within the top 10 individuals and who reach a minimum acceptable score (for Championship progression) will be invited through to the 2024 NTH State Moguls Competition.

The minimum acceptable score will be determined by the Interschools Committee following completion of each event, and before invitations are extended to the next level of competition. The minimum progression score determined reflects the level of the Championships the division level, the course conditions, and the quality of the competitor field.

Invite lists will be published following the regional events.

MOGULS STATE INVITES

Individuals from 2023 who have already received a Mogul State Invite can be entered into the State Moguls 2024 event. All other participants can compete in the Mogul Qualifier events at the Regional Championships

For NSW schools, the top 20 individuals from the 2023 NTH State Moguls Competition received an invite to the 2024 NTH State Moguls Competition.

For ACT and QLD schools, individuals who received an invite to the 2023 National Moguls Competition also receive an invite to the 2024 NTH State Moguls Competition.

These competitors will be considered as meeting the minimum competition standard, and as such they are not required, nor permitted to compete at the 2024 NTH Regional Mogul Qualifier Events. You can view the invites here:

TEAM FORMATION FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Schools can form teams with only the individual competitors who have qualified into the NSW State Interschools Championship. No additional individual competitors will be used to form teams.

QUALIFICATION TO THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

For mogul competitors qualifying for the 2024 Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships, a minimum acceptable score (for Championship progression) will be determined by the Interschools Committee following completion of each event, and before invitations are extended to the next level of competition. Historically this has been a score which is a minimum 40% of the total attainable score (24/60) and is often as high as 50% of the total attainable score (30/60). The minimum progression score determined reflects the level of the Championships (Regional or State), the division level, the course conditions, and the quality of the competitor field. Mogul Team members (all individual members) progressing through to the next level of competition must meet the minimum standard.

TEAM FORMATION FOR AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The National Interschools Committee will review and determine the Mogul Teams Formation process for the September Australian Interschools Championships at their early May National Meeting. This will be communicated to Schools and School Coordinators prior to the commencement of the 2024 winter snowsports season.
