2026 Travelplan Ski Northern NSW & QLD Interschools Snowsport Championships Event Update
Published Tue 23 Jun 2026
Snow Australia Interschools and Thredbo remain committed to delivering the 2026 Travelplan Ski Northern NSW & QLD Interschools Snowsport Championships. With a strong track record of successfully hosting Interschools events, including during challenging snow seasons, planning and preparations for this year's Championships are well advanced.
While unseasonably mild conditions are currently being experienced across Australian Alpine Resorts, Snow Australia Interschools and Thredbo are working closely together to monitor snow conditions, snowmaking opportunities, and medium- to long-range weather forecasts across the resort and event venues. This work is supported by historical data analysis and scenario planning to assess a range of potential outcomes and delivery options.
With the Championships still two weeks away, it is important to recognise how quickly alpine weather and snow conditions can change. As the event approaches, all available options will continue to be considered to maximise the opportunity for the Championships to proceed. This may include the use of alternative event sites, and/or adjusted event schedules and times. Any adaptations will be carefully designed to maintain a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for all participants.
While the season has had a slower start than anticipated, planning continues with optimism and confidence in our collective ability to adapt to the conditions presented. Any decisions regarding event delivery will prioritise participant safety and the quality of the event experience.
A further update, including confirmation of event formats and times (if required), will be provided to the community on Monday, 29 June.
Planning for the SUBARU Sydney Interschools Snowsport Championships and the SUBARU ACT/Southern NSW Interschools Snowsport Championships is progressing as scheduled. Snow Australia, in collaboration with Perisher, will continue to monitor conditions leading into the events and further updates will be provided as we move closer to the event dates.
