Single Bib Initiative for Snowboard Events

In 2024, the Northern Interschools Event Management piloted the use of a single bib across two similar disciplines being Snowboard Giant Slalom (SBGS) and Snowboard Cross (SBX) to reduce the number of disposable bibs, minimising the environmental impact of the Interschools Snowsport Championships.

The decision was based on data showing that approximately 89% of participants competed in both events, with around 85% being part of the same team. Post-event feedback from resort partners, schools, and the broader Interschools community was overwhelmingly positive.

Following this success, the SBGS and SBX single-bib initiative will be fully implemented into the following Championships in 2025, including an expansion to the State NSW/ACT/QLD Interschools Snowsport Championships. There is also potential for this initiative to be extended to other disciplines in the future.

The event entry process will remain unchanged from 2024, and further details will be shared with school coordinators through the event management team ahead of the school coordinators’ webinars.
