Snow Australia Launches Review of Northern Interschools Snowsports Championships

Published Wed 04 Feb 2026

The NSW, ACT, QLD and SA Interschools Snowsports Championships are Australia’s largest school-age snowsports participation event series. The Championships have introduced generations of students and their families to competitive snowsports, while fostering long-term engagement across the broader snow industry.

With existing resort agreements concluding, Snow Australia has undertaken an internal review of the Northern Interschools Championships events, supported by a comprehensive economic impact study assessing the event’s value to the schools, sport, the industry and the wider community.

While the Championships continue to be delivered successfully and are strongly supported by the host resorts, the internal review has highlighted several operational areas that require further evaluation and consideration to allow for long-term sustainability and future growth.

Snow Australia will commence a series of school face to face and online workshops and broader community consultation surveys to gather feedback on the current event structure and explore support of potential models for the future. Further information will be provided directly to School Coordinators during the coming weeks.

Snow Australia believes this is the appropriate time to reflect, review, and if required reframe the delivery model with a long-term, sustainable focus.  During this consultation and review period, event dates for 2027 and beyond will remain unconfirmed until the process is finalised early in the 2026 season.
