Volunteer Management Project – School Referees
Published Thu 20 Mar 2025
The Northern Interschools Snowsport Advisory roup (NISAG) is dedicated to keeping the NTH Interschools Championships safe, fun, and welcoming for all competitors. However, in recent years, there has been a shortage of experienced officials to fill key course official roles such as Start Referee, Chief of Gates, and Finish Referee.
As part of the solution, NISAG will be looking to implement a 2025 pilot volunteer course official system, and requesting schools who have additional teachers and/or support staff to assist with filling these roles as part of the schools volunteer requirements.
Similar to other major sporting carnivals, many schools bring support teachers and staff to the Interschools events. These schools will be requested to supply one course referee for each event day at an Interschools Championships, within their course official volunteer requirements for the event. Every effort will be made to ensure your volunteers are on courses that your school is involved in.
Support, training, and mentoring will be provided to ensure school officials are confident in their roles.
This initiative is crucial for the ongoing success, growth, and safety of the NTH Interschools events.
If your school falls within this category, and can assist with this pilot program, please contact interschools@snow.org.au.
Additionally, we will be reaching out to schools within this category with further information.
