All about volunteering at Interschools
Published Mon 19 May 2025
The success of our Interschools events relies heavily on the dedication of volunteer officials. On a typical Interschools event day, up to 50-course officials are required to keep the events safe and fair for participants.
For every 8 entries that a school enters, one volunteer course official is required.
what is it like to volunteer at interschools?
How to Volunteer
Let your school coordinator know if you are available to volunteer as they will need to register you as course officials when they complete the school entries.
If you are not attached to a school but are still interested in volunteering, please email Interschools at interschools@snow.org.au

Interschools Officials Training
The Online Interschools Officials Training Course is designed to equip entry-level officials with the essential knowledge to confidently and effectively support Interschools events. Ideal for school coordinators, officials, and coaches, the course also provides valuable insights into the structure and management of the Interschools Championships.
Through engaging videos and comprehension quizzes, this 50-minute course covers key topics including:
· An introduction to Interschools and its role in competitive snowsports
· The responsibilities of the Resort Race Department during events
· Roles and duties of Interschools Course Officials
· How to identify incorrect gate passage
· Volunteer preparation for event day
While the course is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended for anyone volunteering this season.
Note: If you’ve completed the course in a previous season, there’s no need to retake it unless you wish to refresh your knowledge.
