About LITTLE SHREDDERS - Little Gliders

Snow Australia is excited to offer two off snow Sporting Schools programs, Little Shredders and Little Gliders, for participants to experience Australia's coolest sport in the classroom!

Little Shredders is based on the hugely popular Burton Riglet product and introduces primary school students to the fundamental concepts and movements of skiing and snowboarding using custom-made modified equipment built specifically for use in the school yard.

The program prepares students for an on-snow experience. Children will be challenged both physically and cognitively to learn new balance, co ordination and flexibility skills as well as to understand the basic elements of snow-sports safety.

Sessions can be delivered on almost any surface or vacant space at your school.

Little Gliders introduces children to Cross-country and Alpine disciplines through game based learning with modified ski equipment.

Using Nordic Rocks strap on skis, participants learn skills and techniques for cross country skiing.

Sessions can be delivered on carpet and grass surfaces.

How to bring little shredders and gliders to your school?

You can bring the the programs to your school by hiring the equipment. Teachers can dleiver the program using the lesson plans supplied or Snow Australia can also supply coaches to teach the program in certain locations.

As Sporting Schools programs, schools can apply for funding to bring the program to their school.

Program Details & Resources

Both programs can be delivered as a four session program in school by teachers or an external coach. Each lesson length is 45 minutes, which can be adjusted to class schedule and time allotment.

Little Shredders Coaching Course

This online course has been designed by Snow Australia to provide coaches and teachers with the tools to deliver a snow sports experience to children ‘off-snow’. This course will provide participants with an overview of the skills and equipment necessary to deliver a safe, fun, and inclusive experience.

The course is free but you do need an active Snow Australia membership to complete the course (a free snowracer or volunteer members is available) to do so.

The Little Shredders Coaching Course will be available from May 2024.
